AAA New Mexico: Pump prices continue to drop

PBN file

Pump prices fell in New Mexico this week.

The statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded dropped five cents this past week to $3.28, according to the AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed, motorists in Santa Fe are paying the most at $3.23, and those in Las Cruces are paying the least at $3.15.

The national average is $3.38.

While national retail gas prices have declined each day during the past week, crude oil prices have increased slightly as market attention has focused on the impact of the looming U.S. fiscal cliff and the broader health of the global economy.

?Here in the Land of Enchantment, drivers are now paying about $46 to fill up a typical 14-gallon fuel tank,? AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe said.

Average gas prices:

  • National $3.38
  • New Mexico $3.28
  • Albuquerque $3.21
  • Las Cruces $3.15
  • Santa Fe $3.23
  • Texas $3.14
  • Colorado $3.33
  • Nevada $3.46
  • Arizona $3.01
